TURN THE CORNER
From the Editor:

KEEPING IT FUN!

While attending the National High School Rodeo Finals I noticed one thing that was different at this event, from most rodeos and barrel races.  That one thing was everyone was having fun especially the kids that were competing!

Now I know that a kid’s responsibilities are few compared to us as adults, kids don’t worry about the pickup running right or tires for the horse trailer or even how much it costs to get to a rodeo. Nor do kids drive all night or wonder if they have clean clothes or even worry about how they are going to pay their entry fees!  But my point is this - we, as adults, need to work on keeping a little bit of the kid inside of us.  Even though we have all of the responsibilities that go along with rodeo like paying for expenses and entries, getting there and how we get there, as well as competing.  After we arrive we still need to put a smile on our face and be happy to be there.  Don’t let conditions, other competitors and responsibilities rain on your parade.  Just remember, we love our horses and have the opportunity to run barrels and we are the luckiest people in the world.  So keep a little kid inside yourself and feel the excitement of being at a rodeo or barrel race…its good for the soul.

I have been a competitive barrel racer and barrel horse trainer for over 25 years. Many of my horses have gone on to compete in the college finals, high school finals and pro ranks. I have been a WPRA member for over 20 years and have visited the pay windows at some of the larger rodeos in the nation including Denver, Cheyenne and Houston.

My dream has always been to make training and "professional" knowledge accessible to anyone wanting to, or now competing in the barrel horse world.  Turn magazine is designed for women and men that have a fast paced life or anyone who lives in a remote area. Turn Barrel Horse Magazine gives you the opportunity to learn from the pro's at home or on the road.

Thank you for joining us at Turn Magazine, it will be a fun, fast ride!
